[dropcap]L[/dropcap]iving away from the family for education & then job has taught me a lot of things, one of which is cooking. In this era where time is the money you just can’t make much for household chores. However, if Fitness is one thing you live by, Food stands at pivotal position in your mind. And with limited experience kitchen may seem like an intimidating beast.

Generally, for Men the best recipes are the ones that get us out of the kitchen as fast as possible. And most of the time the go-grab menu seems to fall short in taste (or not even worthy of eating) when we cook it. If you are single or living away from your family here are few man-friendly recipes these that will help you abstain from chips and salsa the millennial bachelor labelled gourmet food.  These easy to cook recipes shall take about 15 minutes and get you in and out of kitchen as fast as possible. The meals can be customized as per taste.

Before you start Cooking: –

  1. Keep the vegetables stocked. Uncut if you can make those extra 5 minutes to slice it, sliced if you can’t be bothered to cut it and can fill regular stocks of the same.
  2. Leftovers are an important part of the gourmet meal for bachelors. Refrigerate the leftovers as they are a great substitute for vegetables.
  3. Health Food and Cupcakes/Pancakes are opposite side of the same coin.
  4. The key too cooking eggs in microwave is time. It is generally cooked for 1.30 minutes however you might seriously have a look at it first time to avoid bursting eggs inside microwave. Eggs white puff up high over the lid height and deflate right away. Depending on your micro do a test run at first to check the ideal vessel height to avoid a burst.
  • Microwave scrambled eggs

Add eggs and a little Milk into a bowl (complete Egg/Egg white individual choice) beat it for a minute and microwave it for 45 seconds.

Open the microwave and see if the contents are set, stir a little and then reheat for 30 seconds.


Stuff scrambled eggs inside a Bread adding salt and Pepper, Veggies, Dressings (Mustard for me), Chia seeds and its served.

Microwave Eggs
  • Egg Salad

This is a little time-consuming recipe and might make you wait a little.

Hard Boil eggs and remove the shells.

Slice or Chop or shred vegetables as per your choice. The vegetable mix can be wide depending on availability.

Wash the veggies and add a little salt and pepper to it.

Cube the eggs and add to the vegetable mixture. Toss up slightly to mix the ingredients.


Egg Salad
  • Cucumber Sandwich

Slice off cucumbers into small circular slices.

Make sure to remove Cucumber bitterness by removing half an inch from both Stem and Blossom ends. Place the cut piece back and rub the flat ends.

Toast bread

My favorite is Ricotta cheese inside the bread.

Place cucumber slices over ricotta cheese.

Add Salt.

Devour Immediately


  • Granola Peanut Bites

Skip this if you are not a peanut butter Fan.

Peanut Butter Balls

The ingredients for taste is the key game changer. Packed with nuts, Seeds, Oats this is a perfect evening snacker or a post workout nutrition bit.

Add Peanut butter in a cup (about 1/3rd of the cup).

Add Chia/Sunflower Seeds.

Instant Oats.

Mix all ingredients until combined well and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Roll it up into small shapes of balls. Each Roll is about 100 calories.

  • Egg Dosa

Twisting up my eggs delight with a south Indian touch.

If Dosas can be filled with potatoes, Onions, Cottage cheese why not eggs. Eggs pack my early morning protein while Dosa contributing to my carbohydrate requirements.

Grease a non-stick pan with Olive Oil ( Smart and Healthy Oil Choice).

Add a cup of ready to eat dosa batter.

Add Beaten eggs and spread around the Dosa.

Mix Vegetables and salt as per choice.

Flip and cook from the other side.

Flip back until its Crisp like a south Indian delight.


  • Salmon Sandwich

This one’s a common sight over my place, as my roommate is a die heard salmon fan.

Combine left over salmon, vegetables, mayo(a little for taste), salt and pepper.

Mix it up in a perfect mixture.

Equally divide the mix into toasted bread slices.
